Even though it's been a shorter week at school we've been just as busy! We've been learning about all the different countries who take part in the Olympics - there are 203 of them this year! We've started making flags and marking the countries on our class map and Miss Shearer says she will take a picture of it once we've made some more flags. Miss Shearer also has a special Team GB scarf which has loads of pictures on it to represent the team and the people of Great Britain. Here we are trying to find all the different pictures - it was a bit like I-Spy or Where's Wally!
We had a great time at Tag Rugby again this week and we think Liam is really impressed with our running skills (we didn't tell him we've been practising them with Miss Shearer!). We played a new game called Animal Walks where we had to move like different animals and get to the ball first. Sometimes we had to go on our tummies and sometimes we had to jump to get the ball! Here are a few pictures our Tag Rugby photographer, Caity, took!
We are really excited as Miss Shearer's friend is going to be taking part in the Olympic Torch relay on Sunday in Kirkwall and then on Monday she will be taking her torch in to school for us to see! We are really looking forward to her visit and have thought of some really good questions to ask her so we will put up lots of photos on Monday!

Jubilant P2!
We've had a great day celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. This morning we made beautiful hats for people to wear to our 'Garden Party' outside then after break time we went outside with the rest of the school and did a huge Strip the Willow and got some ice cream! And it stayed sunny!
Our Strip the Willow stretched the whole length of the playground!
It took ages to get from the beginning to the end and we had to spin with nearly everyone in the whole school!
After all that spinning we definitely needed some ice cream!
Here is Mr Taylor wearing a hat that Aiden designed. We all thought it was just perfect for a Jubilee Party!

Get Well Soon Caity
We were very sad last week when we found out that Caity had broken her leg.
But we're hoping that she's starting to feel better and that she will be back at school soon as we miss her lots and we just wanted to say...

Olympic Origami!
Phew! We've had another busy week in Primary 2! This week we've been learning all about the Olypmic Rings and why they are important to the Olypmics. We found out that they were designed by a man called Baron Pierre de Coubertin who wanted all the countries who take part in the Olympics to feel welcome and that they could all compete. We made our own origami Olympic rings! They were quite tricky to make and we had to concentrate really hard to make all the right folds in the paper but now that we are done they look brilliant and are up on the wall! Here are a few photos of us working on them.
We had our next Tag Rugby session this week too and we got to join in with P3 which was good fun! We practiced what we had learned last week and then we got to have a got at scoring a try and at passing to each other! It was great fun! Here's a few photos!

Stained Glass and Tag Rugby!
We have had another busy week of visitors in Primary 2! This week everyone in the school started to make the stained glass artwork for the new school. Liz, who is a stained glass artist has been at school all week and has been asking for our help to make it. We have to draw our design on glass then Liz cuts it with a special tool and then we tap the glass from underneath and just like magic the piece comes away from the glass! We had to wear special goggles to make sure we didn't get any peedie bits of glass in our eyes. Here is one group having a go!
We think it's going to look great when it's finished and will be nice to have in the new school. Here is a photo of it all being layered together with some of our peices.
We also had our first Tag Rugby training of the term this week. It was great fun! We learned some of the rules of rugby, the 3 important ways of moving in rugby and got to play some fun games! We are really looking forward to our training next week!

Exciting Mail!
Today Mrs Whitford came into class with a letter addressed to Primary 2.
On the back there was a Gruffalo sticker!! We decided it must be from Julia Donaldson! Mrs Whitford opened it and inside there was a special postcard from Julia.
She also sent us some stickers which have pictures of all her books on them. We were very pleased to get the letter from her and delighted that she has read our book! We will definitely be taking Julia's advice and keeping on writing and drawing!

Visitors!
Then on Wednesday Aiden's big sister Denise took in her baby rabbits for us to see! They were only 3 weeks old and very cute! We all got to hold one and we were really quiet so that the rabbits didn't get scared. Some even fell asleep they were so relaxed!
We also had a special assembly about Christian Aid Week on Tuesday so it has been a busy week! Next week we will be learning more about the Olypmics and also starting to think about making our own Road Safety video!
